The PopFoot portal conducted a study to find out who has finished the season as the top scorer in their league the most times.
Lent.az reports that Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski lead the list with 8 such seasons each. Messi has been the top scorer in La Liga 8 times with Barcelona. He currently leads the goalscoring race in the MLS (16 goals), but Sam Surridge is following closely behind.
Lewandowski repeated the Argentine's achievement: once with Borussia, six times with Bavaria, and once with Barcelona.
The top 5 also includes:
Kylian Mbappe - seven seasons (6 seasons for PSG, one for Real)
Cristiano Ronaldo - five seasons (three for Real, one each for Juventus and Manchester United)
Zlatan Ibrahimović - five seasons (three for PSG, one each for Inter and Milan)
Immobile, Henry, Salah and Cavani are also on the list, but their chances of reaching Messi and Lewandowski are almost non-existent.
It is intriguing whether any of the current stars, other than Mbappe, will come close to this milestone.
