Mehdi Taj, the president of the Iranian Football Federation, has commented on the possibility of the national team withdrawing from the 2026 World Cup.
"After the US attack, one cannot look hopefully at the World Cup, but the decision on this matter should be made by the heads of sports organizations," Taj said.
The Iranian national team has qualified for the 2026 World Cup and is in Group G with Belgium, Egypt, and New Zealand. All three of the team's matches are planned to be held in the United States.
The 2026 World Cup will be held this summer in three countries - the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
