"The head coach has commented on my not receiving a national team call-up. I have nothing else to add." These are the words of Sumgayit goalkeeper Mehdi Jannatov in his statement to Sport24.az, commenting on not receiving a call-up to the Azerbaijani national team.
Answering journalists' questions after the match with Shamakhi, the goalkeeper noted that it is difficult for him to say anything more about this issue: "I can only wish the national team success. I believe that the team will perform well in the upcoming matches."
To the question "Is it possible that the national team squad has been determined in advance?", the Sumgayit goalkeeper answered as follows:
"I can't say anything about that. The head coach makes decisions regarding the squad. He watches the championship games. If he thinks someone will be useful to the national team, he sends them an invitation."
Jannatov responded to the rumors about any problems with his passport as follows: "My passport is with AFFA, I don't know the rest. My passport has not expired either."
