France national team head coach Didier Deschamps has announced that his forward and captain, Kylian Mbappe, has re-injured his ankle.
"Report" reports that this happened in the match against Azerbaijan as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifying round. The "Real Madrid" player was substituted in the 83rd minute.
"It's the foot he injured before. The pain decreases as he rests. Contact with the opponent is inevitable during the match. We will assess the situation. Mbappe is experiencing discomfort, which is not good," Deschamps said.
It should be noted that the match ended with a 3-0 victory for the French national team.
Previous reports indicated that Mbappe did not train with the French national team before the match against Azerbaijan due to a recurrence of his ankle sprain.
