Argentine striker Mauro Icardi has become the best foreign goalscorer of all time for Turkish club Galatasaray.
Idman.Biz reports that he scored his 73rd goal for the club in a 3-1 Turkish Cup win over Istanbulspor.
This achievement allowed Icardi to surpass the previous record of Romanian midfielder Gheorghe Hagi, who scored 72 goals for the club.
Mauro Icardi signed a contract with Galatasaray in 2022, and his contract runs until the end of June 2026. It was previously reported that the Turkish club wants to extend Icardi's contract for another two or three years, but on the condition that his salary is significantly reduced - from 10 million euros to 8.5 million euros per year. According to Transfermarkt, the player's current market value is 6 million euros.
