Former Inter and Italy player Marco Materazzi has revealed that he decided to end his coaching career after his stint with Indian club Chennaiyin.
Idman.Biz reports that the former defender coached the team from 2014 to 2017.
"When I started working as a coach in India, people also wanted to learn. I had a three-year contract, but when the contract expired, some people already thought they were better coaches than me. So I told them 'thank you, goodbye' and went home.
At that moment, when there were people around me who wanted to do my job instead of me, I said to myself that maybe it would be better for me to be with my family in Italy. And so I did.
I need to dedicate myself 100% to the job. I always wanted to be responsible for the process so that there were no extra people behind me, only me," said Materazzi.
