Former Real Madrid defender Marcelo has said that he considers former Barcelona forward Lionel Messi the toughest opponent he has faced in his career.
Idman.Biz reports that he stated this in an interview with Daily Sports.
He noted that there were other strong opponents besides Messi, but emphasized that the Argentine star made it difficult to defend.
"My toughest opponent? Messi was really a headache for the defense. Jesus Navas also gave me difficult moments, Xabi Prieto was very difficult to defend. Pedro was also very good," Marcelo said.
During his career, Marcelo played 546 matches for Real Madrid between 2007 and 2022, scored 38 goals and provided 104 assists. He announced the end of his professional career in February of this year and played for his childhood team Fluminense as his last club.
