The English Premier League leadership has fined the "Manchester City" football club for repeatedly delaying matches.
Lent.az reports that "Manchester City" committed nine such violations of the rules in the 2024/25 season of the English Premier League. The parties agreed, and the club admitted to violating the rules regarding the obligation to start and continue the game.
Each subsequent violation led to an increase in the fine. Thus, for the first delay, the "citizens" paid 40 thousand pounds sterling, while for the ninth, they already paid 190 thousand pounds sterling. According to reports, the club was fined a total of 800 thousand pounds sterling, which is slightly more than one million dollars.
"Manchester City" won bronze medals in the Premier League in the completed season. In 38 rounds, the team led by Jose Guardiola scored 71 points and was 13 points behind the national champion, Liverpool. The Citizens were unable to win any trophies this season, and in May the team lost to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final.
