AFFA's decision to dismiss Fernando Santos from the post of head coach of the national team is the right decision.
This was stated by the former coach of the Azerbaijani national team, Mahmud Gurbanov, in his statement to "Report".
The expert emphasized that the 0:5 defeat to Iceland is unacceptable:
"Frankly, I was expecting Fernando Santos to be dismissed after the match with the Ukrainian national team. But he left now. In my opinion, it is the right decision. Losing easily and by a large score in the match with Iceland without doing anything is unacceptable. Therefore, Santos' departure after this match was expected."
It should be noted that Fernando Santos was appointed head coach of the Azerbaijani national team in June last year. The contract with the Portuguese specialist was mutually terminated today.
