Former member of the Azerbaijan national team, Mahir Shukurov, says that in addition to the dismissed head coach of the national team, Fernando Santos, the people working with him should also be dismissed.

According to Shukurov, Azerbaijani football needs a new breath:
"Along with Fernando Santos, those who worked with him, who were responsible in the national team during all this time, should also be removed from the team. Because for a long time they have been deceiving the football community, hiding the truth and simply putting a pillow under our heads. This has not benefited the development of Azerbaijani football in any way. Therefore, I think that they should all leave the team one by one and give way to people who will bring a new breath, who really understand football and will put their heart into this field".
