"I am very happy to be a part of this club." Sport24.az reports that these words were said by Mahir Emreli, a football player of the Azerbaijani national team playing for the German representative "Kaiserslautern", in an interview with "SWR Sport".
The 28-year-old striker said that he is looking forward to the start of the season at the stadium where they hold home games:
"While playing in Nuremberg, I fell in love with the atmosphere and the fans in the game against my current team. Even though I was an opponent, it was very fun to play there. When we went there, everything was covered in red and devil logos. I joked with my teammates: "Are we going to hell?"
He also explained the reason why he chose "Kaiserslautern" despite having several offers:
"After talking to the management, I realized that I also liked their football plans. What I liked the most was their ambition. Everyone wants this club to achieve more. This impressed me."
"The most important thing is that the team wins the games. I am more of a running and fighting player. Of course, I want to shoot at the goal. No one loves scoring goals more than I do. But the most important thing is that my team wins."
Emreli also talked about the fans: "I want to have fun with the fans during the match. Sometimes I get a little crazy, I scream and applaud them. We have to fight and do our best to make the fans happy."
