Mahir Emreli, the football player of the Azerbaijan national team and Germany's "Kaiserslautern" club, answered the questions of "Report". The 28-year-old striker talked about his move to the II Bundesliga representative and spoke about his upcoming goals.
- First of all, we would like to get your opinion about your move to "Kaiserslautern". What are your first impressions?
- My first days here are really great. I am slowly trying to adapt to the players in the team. I am happy to have joined this team. I can't wait to play in the stadium again. I think it is one of the most beautiful and interesting atmospheres in the world. Playing in this arena gives pleasure to every football player and makes them love their job even more.
- We know that you had many offers. What was the main reason for choosing "Kaiserslautern"?
- They worked harder and made more efforts to include me in their squad. They were able to convince me in every way. I also thought that my move to this club would be the right step.
- Is it difficult for you to adapt to the team?
- I am still new to the team. I am slowly getting to know the players. But everyone here is friendly. Since the city is small, there is a family atmosphere inside the club. I think that I will be able to adapt even more as time goes by.
- You have already scored in two test matches for the team. What can you say about this?
- Although we are different in the games, we are far from optimal form. I had only two training sessions since the day I arrived. Then we played test matches. Shortcomings are felt. But there are 5-6 weeks until the start of the season. During this time, we will restore our full form and play better. Scoring a goal is important for motivation. At the moment, there are other factors to pay attention to and we need to focus on them.
- What are your team's goals for the next season?
- "Kaiserslautern" always wants to achieve better results. We hope to qualify for the Bundesliga. That is our goal. But as I said, II Bundesliga is an unpredictable tournament. It is impossible to say what will happen from now on. We will try to win from game to game. We want to do our best to help the team get promoted to the Bundesliga.
- You already have II Bundesliga experience. Last season you scored 11 goals for "Nuremberg". Will we be able to see you among the top scorers this time?
- It would be better if we qualified for the Bundesliga than if I was on the list of top scorers. But why not? I know the league, I have adapted. I am in a new team and it is time to settle here. I am thinking more about how I can be useful to my team than about being a top scorer.
