"Lyon," despite being relegated to French League 2, will participate in the UEFA Europa League.
Idman.biz reports that the club has released an official statement regarding this.
"Lyon" sent a letter to the UEFA leadership expressing its desire to participate in the tournament. Following sanctions from the French Football Financial Control Authority, the club reached a cooperation agreement with the European football body regarding the auditing of financial matters.
It should be noted that "Lyon" finished last season in 6th place in French League 1, thus earning the right to play in the Europa League.
