Croatian midfielder Luka Modrić of "Milan" spoke about wars.
İdman.Biz reports that Luka Modrić, born in 1985, spent his childhood during the wars of the former Yugoslavia, which lasted from 1991 to 1995. Because of this, he and his family became refugees.
"[The Yugoslav wars] were madness. I didn't understand those wars then, and I don't understand today's wars either. Life is beautiful, but wars destroy everything for no reason," Modrić is quoted as saying by the "Corriere della Sera" newspaper.
Modrić gained fame thanks to his performances at Real Madrid, where he won numerous trophies. He also played for Dinamo Zagreb and Tottenham Hotspur. The midfielder has been playing for Milan since the summer of 2025.
