Fenerbahce President Ali Koç stated that Italian specialist Luciano Spalletti was their main candidate for the head coach position after the dismissal of Jose Mourinho. However, he refused to lead the team this season. Sport24.az reports that Koç made a statement to Football Italia:
"Spalletti was our first choice, but he did not accept the offer. We are considering some candidates and will announce the name of the new coach soon."
It should be noted that besides Spalletti, former Milan head coach Sergio Conceição and Angelos Postecoglou, who worked at Tottenham, are also among the candidates for the vacant position.
