Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi has been presented with "Barcelona's Player of the 21st Century" award. Sport24.az reports that the award was established by the sports publication "Sport.es".
The director of the publication, Joan Vegils, traveled to Miami to present the trophy to the 38-year-old Argentinian. Messi was unable to attend the ceremony in Madrid due to a tight schedule. After the awards ceremony, a video was shown in which Barcelona fans thanked Messi for the years he spent at the club and in the city.
The Argentinian star thanked the Barcelona fans and said that he would return to this city one day:
"The truth is that we have had both good and bad days together. It is normal that not everything is easy in a career and that you have to endure difficult moments. But this is my home, my place, my people. Of course I will come back. Like any other fan, I will go to the stadium to support the team, the club."
