Major League Soccer (MLS) Commissioner Don Garber has handed Inter Miami star Lionel Messi a one-match suspension for missing the All-Star game on Wednesday, July 23.
Lent.az reports that the commissioner said they had to respect these games:
"I know Lionel Messi loves this league. I don't think there's a player or anyone who's done more for MLS than Messi. I fully understand, respect, admire, and respect his commitment to Inter Miami. Unfortunately, we have a long-standing policy regarding participation in the All-Star game and we have to respect it."
It should be noted that along with Messi, his teammate, Spanish star footballer Jordi Alba, has also been disqualified. It is emphasized that Messi and Alba will not be able to participate in the game that will take place on Sunday.
