José Araquistáin, six-time Spanish champion with Real Madrid, has passed away at the age of 88.
İdman.biz reports that the club's press service has announced this.
"Real Madrid, its president, and its board of directors deeply regret the passing of José Araquistáin and remember him as one of the greatest goalkeepers in our club's history," the statement said.
Araquistáin played 97 matches for Real Madrid from 1961 to 1968. During this time, he won 1 European Champions Cup, 6 Spanish Championships, and 1 Spanish Cup.
José was also the goalkeeper for the Spanish national team and represented his country at the 1962 World Cup in Chile.
