Legendary Uruguayan and Spanish footballer Jose Emilio Santamaria has died at the age of 96. Sport24.az reports that this was announced by the press service of "Real".
Santamaria joined "Real" in 1957 and wore the jersey of the "Royal Club" for 9 seasons, until 1966. He played 337 games for the Madrid club and won four European Cups (1958, 1959, 1960, 1966), one Intercontinental Cup, six La Liga titles and one Copa del Rey.
It should be noted that Santamaria was a member of the legendary team that won two consecutive European Cups for the first time in history.
