Qarabag midfielder Leandro Andrade set a record for the 2025/2026 Champions League season by scoring in the opening seconds of the game against Athletic yesterday.
Idman.biz, citing Reuters, reports that the goal, scored in the 48th second of the third round of the group stage, was the earliest goal of the season.
It was previously reported that the Qarabag midfielder made history as the only player to score in the first minute in three different UEFA tournaments - the Champions League, the Europa League and the Conference League.
Despite a fast start, the Aghdam club lost 1:3 in Bilbao and dropped to 13th place in the standings with six points.
List of the earliest goals scored in the history of the Champions League:
Roy Makaay - 10.12 seconds: Bayern - Real Madrid (2:1, March 7, 2007, 1/8 final)
Jonas - 10.96 seconds: Valencia - Bayer (3:1, November 1, 2011, group stage)
Gilberto Silva - 20.07 seconds: PSV(Eindhoven) - Arsenal (0:4, September 25, 2002, group stage)
Alessandro Del Piero - 20.12 seconds: Manchester United - Juventus (3:2, October 1, 1997, group stage)
Clarence Seedorf - 21.06 seconds: Schalke - Milan (2:2, September 28, 2005, group stage)
The Spanish press noted that Andrade's goal was the earliest goal Athletic had conceded in Champions League history. In addition, this goal is the fourth earliest goal scored at the San Mames stadium, which was put into operation in 2013.
It should be reminded that Qarabag will play against London's Chelsea in Baku on November 5 as part of the fourth round of the Champions League group stage.
