Leandro Andrade, the Cape Verdean footballer of "Qarabağ", has achieved a rare success in the history of European football.
Idman.Biz reports that he is the first footballer to score in the first minute in both different UEFA tournaments - the Champions League and the Europa League. Andrade talked about this and the upcoming games in an interview with the official website of the Aghdam representative.
– You have made history in European football. You are the first footballer to score in the first minute in different Champions League and Europa League matches. What were your feelings when you heard this news?
– Frankly, I was surprised. I didn't know I had broken this record until I saw the news after the game. It was a pleasant surprise for me. I am glad that I have achieved such a result. The only thing that could have been better that day would have been winning the game.
– After scoring in the first minute against "Hekken" and FCSB, the same thing happened against "Athletic Bilbao". Is this sequence a coincidence, or is it the result of Gurban Gurbanov's instructions?
– This is not a coincidence. Our head coach Gurban Gurbanov always tells us to start carefully and focused from the first minute. I also try to apply it on the field as much as possible. Of course, I want to increase this statistic, but next time, I hope the end of the game ends with a victory. I made history individually in the game against Bilbao, but in the match against "Hekken" we made history as a team, because with that victory we qualified for the group stage. My favorite goal is the one I scored in that game.
– Although you scored an early goal in the match against "Athletic", the result was not as you wanted. What could have been done better in the game?
– We had both good and bad moments in the game. I think we have the potential to play better against Bilbao. We are responsible for the result, we could have performed better. We were about to change the fate of the game with Aleksey Kashchuk's episode. He did not miss the opportunity, he just made a very correct decision, but Yuri's intervention was really great — we must give him credit for that.
– In the next round, on November 5, "Qarabağ" will face "Chelsea" in Baku. What is the mood of the team?
– The game against "Chelsea" will be very exciting. But I must admit that now I am thinking more about the preparation process, not about that match yet. We have two league games ahead, we need to improve some details in training. The team's goal is to improve a little more in every meeting. I am also focused on this now.
