The national teams of Azerbaijan and Latvia, which will face each other in a friendly match in Riga on June 7, have met five times before. Sport24.az reports that all previous matches were also held within the framework of friendly meetings.
The first such meeting took place in 1997. The parties then agreed to a goalless draw in Riga. No goals were scored in the next five games held in the same city.
The teams met again in Riga in 2004. In this meeting, a draw with goals was recorded - 2:2.
Finally, in the friendly match in 2018, our national team celebrated a 3:1 victory.
In the last duel, however, the opponent was the rejoicing party. In the match in Ta' Qali, Malta, the Latvians achieved a minimal victory - 1:0.
