Barcelona president Joan Laporta has reacted to the results of the Ballon d'Or award.
İdman.biz reports that while Usman Dembele won the prestigious trophy at the ceremony, 18-year-old Lamin Yamal was awarded second place.
At the same time, the young winger won the Kopa Trophy for the second time in a row.
Laporta said that no one has two Kopa awards and he is sure that Yamal will now fight for the Ballon d'Or: "There was great excitement in the hall: one side was saying "Usman, Usman!", and we were shouting "Lamin, Lamin!". I am sure that this will motivate him even more."
The president also paid special attention to Aitana Bonmati: "She won the women's Ballon d'Or for the third time in a row. I am very happy for Aitana. Her words about family, club and equality touched our souls. These reasons encourage her to be even better."
Laporta also thanked the fans for their support and trust in the team, and emphasized that Barcelona is nurturing a new generation of players who can dominate world football.
