Joan Laporta and Victor Font have been officially registered as candidates for the presidency of Barcelona.
Idman.Biz reports that the election commission held a meeting today and announced the results of the verification of signatures collected by potential candidates.
Laporta submitted 8170 signatures to support him, and the commission approved 7226 of them. Of the 5144 signatures submitted by Font, 4440 were approved.
Mark Siria, a "Barca" graduate, submitted 2845 signatures, but only 2247 signatures were approved. A minimum of 2337 verified signatures is required to register as a candidate. Therefore, Siria will not participate in the elections.
The Barcelona presidential election will be held on March 15.
