The Spanish Football Federation has expressed its dissatisfaction with Lamin Yamal's medical examination being carried out without coordination with the national team.
Lent.az reports that this was stated in a statement by the federation:
"The medical service of the Royal Spanish Football Federation reports that it was surprised and concerned to learn that on November 10, when the official training camp with the national team began, Lamin Yamal underwent an invasive radiofrequency procedure to eliminate discomfort in the groin area. This procedure was carried out without prior notification to the national team's medical staff. The team doctors learned about the incident only yesterday evening at 22:40 from a report. The document stated that the doctor recommended 7–10 days of rest."
"Taking into account the current situation and always considering the health, safety and well-being of the player as a priority, the Royal Spanish Football Federation has decided to release the player from this camp. We believe that he will recover fully soon and wish him a speedy recovery," — added the press service of the federation.
The Spanish national team will face the Georgian national team away on November 15 in the qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup, and will play against Turkey at home on November 18. Currently, the Spanish national team is in first place in Group E with 12 points from 4 games.
Barcelona's 18-year-old striker Lamin Yamal has played 23 games for the Spanish national team and scored 6 goals. In 2024, he became the European champion with the national team.
In 2025, Yamal took second place in the voting for the "Golden Ball" award, losing only to PSG striker Usman Dembele. According to the Transfermarkt portal, the player's market value is 200 million euros.
