"The key to "Qarabağ's" success is undoubtedly head coach Gurban Gurbanov, who has been working at the club for 18 years." Sport24.az reports that these words were said by Aghdam representative Mateusz Koxalski in an interview with the Polish press.
The goalkeeper explained the reason for the team's successful performance in European Cups:
"The club has a very strong scouting. Polish clubs still sometimes get players with good CVs and interesting pasts, but whose best years are already behind them. Fortunately, this is happening less and less, because such players come to Poland just for money. They couldn't get such a contract anywhere else."
Koxalski said that "Qarabağ" finds good players from lower leagues:
"They find players from lower leagues in Europe, for example, from the second league of Portugal, and give them the opportunity to show themselves. Scouting plays a decisive role here, because in "Qarabağ" they know not only where, but also specifically who to look for. And here we return to the role of the head coach - he has been in the club for years. If I had to compare "Qarabağ" with a club in Poland, I would point to "Jagiellonia". They also don't spend large sums on transfers, they prioritize good scouting and achieve excellent results."
