The appointment to the FIFA Women's Football Development Committee is a source of pride for AFFA Vice-President Konul Mehdiyeva.
K.Mehdiyeva said this in an interview with "Report".
She said that this is an important stage:
"It is a great source of pride for me to be appointed as a member of the FIFA Women's Football Development Committee. This is an important milestone for me in my professional development path, both in terms of representing our country and Azerbaijan in UEFA. I hope that I will be able to actively participate in the committee's activities and decisions and make positive contributions."
The AFFA vice-president also said what her new job will consist of:
"My main activity in the committee will be to participate in strategic issues aimed at the development of women's football in general. As you know, according to the changes made to the FIFA Statute in 2024, innovations have been made in the number and composition of permanent committees, and these changes confirm that special attention is paid to the development of women's football. The main goal of the Women's Football Development Committee is to provide recommendations on the implementation of the FIFA Women's Football Strategy, participate in the development and implementation of development programs, encourage women's participation in football at all levels, and conduct analysis on the future directions of women's football.
The committee consists of members representing various confederations, and each of us will try to make a positive contribution in this direction with our experience, knowledge and views. I also hope that I will be useful on this platform to support the wider development of women's football."
The official of the organization also talked about the action plan:
"Since the appointment is very new, the first meeting of the committee has not yet been held. For this reason, it would be a little early to talk about a specific action plan and priority directions. During the first meeting, we will be given more detailed information about the committee's working principle, priorities and main goals for the upcoming period. Of course, my goal in the initial stage is to get closely acquainted with the activities of the organization and learn international experience. I hope to contribute to the development of women's football both locally and internationally in the future by taking advantage of this exchange of experience."
It should be noted that AFFA President Rovshan Najaf has been appointed as a member of the FIFA Commercial and Marketing Advisory Committee for the period 2025-2029. AFFA Vice President Konul Mehdiyeva was elected as a member of the Women's Football Development Committee.
