"Khankendi", which will play in the 2nd League of the Azerbaijan Football Championship, wants to hold its home games in the city of the same name.
Idman.biz reports that the club has applied to the Ministry of Youth and Sports in this regard.
We bring to your attention the appeal of "Khankendi": "Khankendi Football Club, which has gained the sympathy of a wide audience of fans in a short period of time and is in the focus of the country's media, has addressed an official appeal to the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Farid Gayibov, in order to hold its home games at the Khankendi city stadium in the new season.
Our club won the Region League in its first season and gained the right to participate in the Second League, and so far it has hosted its rivals at the stadium of the Shamakhi Olympic Sports Complex. However, starting from the upcoming season, holding "Khankendi" FC's home games in its native city of Khankendi, in front of our fans, is one of our main goals.
We would also like to emphasize that a Fan Club of our team has already been established by the teaching staff and students of Karabakh University operating in Khankendi. They express their desire to see their home team in this city with great enthusiasm and desire.
The special attention paid by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Mr. Ilham Aliyev, to the country's sports and the important steps taken to develop sports, especially football, in the liberated territories, create a deep belief in us that in the near future our club will have the opportunity to hold home games in our native city - Khankendi.
Every step taken in this direction is of great importance not only for "Khankendi" FC, but also for the revival of the social and sports life of the region as a whole."
It should be noted that the Khankendi stadium with a capacity of 15,000 spectators was put into operation in 1956. The reconstruction of the stadium is scheduled to be completed by September of this year.
