Former Barcelona player Kevin-Prince Boateng has spoken about Lionel Messi's influence in the process of signing a contract with the club.
Idman.Biz reports that Boateng stated that at that time the entire management - the sports directors, the club president and the head coach - wanted him.
"Before going to the Catalan club, both sports directors wanted me, the president wanted me, and the coach wanted me. I said that's great, I'll sign tomorrow. But no, they said they had to ask Leo Messi first," the striker emphasized.
Boateng described his surprise at that moment as follows:
"I asked, 'What does that mean?' They said, 'We have to ask Messi.' Because he had such power, he controlled the formation of the team."
The former striker admitted that he experienced great tension during the signing:
"I was going to sleep and I was hoping that Leo Messi liked me, that he saw me in his team. I knew that I could sign a contract with Barcelona tomorrow, but if Leo said 'no', I wouldn't move to the club."
Boateng's words show once again how much influence Messi had within Barcelona at that time.
