The battle for the "Golden Boot" award, given to Europe's top scorer, is intensifying. Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has increased the gap between himself and his closest follower, Kylian Mbappe, with his performance last weekend.
Idman.Biz reports, citing Marca, that Kane scored twice in Bayern's last Bundesliga match against Bremen (3:0), bringing his goal tally to 26. On the other hand, Real's French star, Kylian Mbappe, was rested in the match against Real Sociedad (4:1) due to fears of injury, so he was unable to increase his goal count.
The current standings of players competing for the award are as follows:
1. Harry Kane ("Bayern") – 52
2. Kylian Mbappe ("Real") – 46
3. Erling Haaland ("Manchester City") – 44
4. Igor Thiago ("Brentford") – 34
5. Vedat Muriqi ("Mallorca") – 32
6. Vangelis Pavlidis ("Benfica") – 30
7. Darko Lemajic (RFS) – 29
8. Luis Suarez ("Sporting") – 28.5
9. Mason Greenwood ("Marseille") – 28
10. Lautaro Martinez ("Inter") – 28
Note that each goal in the list is multiplied by a special coefficient according to the level of the leagues. Although Kylian Mbappe won this award last season with 31 goals, Kane is currently in the lead with 26 goals (52 points).
