Kakha Kaladze, former defender of Dynamo Kyiv, Milan, and the Georgian national team, and current mayor of Tbilisi, spoke about how former Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi influenced the end of the conflict in Georgia in 2008. Sport24.az reports that he answered a question from La Gazzetta dello Sport about this:
- Since you went into politics, you probably learned something from Berlusconi...
- Of course. Let me tell you a story: In 2008, there was a war in Georgia, a terrible situation. I went to Berlusconi, who had a good relationship with Putin, and asked him if there was anything he could do. He called him in my presence, and a peace treaty was signed shortly thereafter.
Kaladze described the former president of Milan as follows: "For me, Silvio was not just a great president, businessman, and politician. Above all, he was a wonderful person."
