"I haven't worked in Portugal since 2004, and I don't think they would look favorably on me if I led another national team".
Idman.biz reports that Fenerbahçe head coach Jose Mourinho said this in a statement to Sporty Net.
The experienced 62-year-old Portuguese specialist spoke about his future career. He stated that working in the national team is not excluded: "My first experience with the national team should be with Portugal. After that, people should understand that this is my profession, so that I can coach other teams as well".
He also emphasized that he has some connection with the national teams he will work with: "Brazil, of course, there are historical ties between our countries. England, that's my home, I've worked in Italy for several years. But the first national team experience should be with Portugal".
It should be noted that Mourinho signed a 2+1 year contract with Fenerbahce in 2024.
