Benfica's head coach, Jose Mourinho, may take over as head coach of the Portuguese national team in the summer of 2026.
Report, citing ESPN, reports that the Portuguese Football Federation will offer the 63-year-old specialist to replace Spaniard Roberto Martinez after the 2026 World Cup.
If J. Mourinho agrees to this offer, Benfica is expected to be entrusted to Ruben Amorim.
It should be noted that J. Mourinho has been working at Benfica since September 2025. The Lisbon representative is in 3rd place with 49 points after 21 rounds in the Portuguese championship.
