Fenerbahce head coach Jose Mourinho commented on his team's defeat to Benfica in the Champions League play-off second leg (0:1, first leg - 0:0).
Idman.biz reports that the Portuguese specialist emphasized that it is better for them to play in the second club tournament of the continent - the Europa League.
The Portuguese publication Record presented Mourinho's words: "In the first half, we tried to have more possession of the ball, but we only managed to do it after the break. I don't like looking for excuses. The victory was won by a team that is stronger, has better players and more experience than us. If we had qualified for the Champions League, we would probably only have eight games in total. But in the Europa League we will fight for the title."
It should be noted that teams that lose in the UEFA Champions League play-off round continue their performances in the main stage of the Europa League.
