Benfica, who started the Champions League with a 3:2 defeat to Qarabag at home, dismissed head coach Bruno Lage. According to reports, the club's board of directors has decided to appoint Jose Mourinho as head coach.
According to the Portuguese CNN TV channel, Benfica President Rui Costa reached an agreement with Mourinho at a meeting held at night. It is reported that the experienced coach said "yes" to the offer and an official statement will be made soon.
It is reported that Rui Costa wants to strengthen his position against the opposition in Benfica, which will go to elections on October 25, by bringing Mourinho as head coach.
