Qarabag's new signing, Joni Montiel, rejected offers from several clubs before coming to Azerbaijan.
Idman.biz reports with reference to Sportal.az that the Spanish midfielder received official offers from Beytar and Aris (Limassol).
However, the 26-year-old winger turned down offers from both these clubs and the Spanish Second Division for the sake of the Azerbaijani club.
Montiel preferred to play for Qarabag because of their stable performance in European Cups and his playing style.
It should be noted that the player has signed a 2+2 year contract. The attacking midfielder will play for Qarabag in jersey number 9.
The 26-year-old left winger is a graduate of Rayo Vallecano. He joined the main team in 2015. During his 10 years at the club, Joni was loaned to Toledo, Deportivo (La Coruña), Oviedo, Valladolid, Levante and Burgos. He wore the colors of the Spanish U-17, U-18 and U-19 national teams. It should be noted that Qarabag has previously added Dani Bolt, Pedro Bicallo, Chris Kwaku, and Sami Mmaeni to their squad.
