John Heitinga has left Tottenham Hotspur after 33 days working as part of the coaching staff.
Idman.Biz reports that the Dutch specialist was appointed to the coaching staff in mid-January 2026.
His departure comes against the backdrop of the team's poor performance in the Premier League. Previously, the board dismissed head coach Thomas Frank. Igor Tudor has come in to replace Frank, signing a short-term contract until the end of the season.
According to The Athletic, Heitinga decided not to stay at the club after Tudor's appointment. Tottenham are currently 16th in the English Premier League table. The team's next match will be against Arsenal on February 22nd.
On November 6, 2025, Heitinga was sacked as head coach of Ajax, which he joined in July of that year. This was his first experience coaching a senior team, as he had previously coached youth and junior teams at the Amsterdam club. From July 2024 to May 2025, Heitinga worked as assistant to Liverpool head coach Arne Slot.
