Barcelona president Joan Laporta and the remaining members of the club's board of directors have resigned in order to stand for election for another term.
Idman.Biz reports that this procedure is mandatory before the presidential elections of the Catalan club.
"President Joan Laporta has resigned to stand for re-election for another term. This resignation was officially accepted at the next meeting of the Board of Directors held on Monday, and the election notice was officially published. After these resignations, the Board of Directors will continue to serve for the remainder of the term," the club's press service said.
The elections for the new president of the Catalan club will be held on March 15, and the winner will officially take office on July 1.
