The results of the presidential elections held at Barcelona have been announced. Current leader Joan Laporta won the vote by a large margin and retained his position.
İdman.Biz reports that Laporta managed to win the support of 66.6 percent of voters. This is more than twice the number of votes collected by his closest rival, Viktor Font.

Interestingly, in December of last year, the 63-year-old Spanish official announced that he would not run in 2026. At that time, he said, "I will not be like Putin or Maduro," but later changed his mind. Laporta resigned on the eve of the elections to circumvent the rule prohibiting him from holding office for two consecutive terms, thus gaining the right to run again.
