Joan Laporta, a candidate for the presidency of "Barcelona", has responded to allegations of money laundering during contracts with investors. A complaint was filed with the Spanish National Court by a member of the Catalan club.
Idman.Biz reports that Laporta assessed this step as interference in the election process and an attempt to undermine the club's stability.
"The goal of this person, who is a member of the club and filed a complaint filled with lies and deceit the next day, is quite clear: to disrupt the election process and harm my candidacy," Laporta said.
He also claimed that Madrid circles were behind these attacks:
"It is clear as day that those in Madrid are trying to destabilize "Barça". They are doing this by destroying everything we have achieved during my presidency. It is clear that someone is behind this man."
Laporta emphasized that the "Let's Protect Barcelona" movement, which he leads, will defend the club from such attacks:
"The only goal of these people is to destroy all the work done to restore the club, to strengthen it economically, sportingly and socially."
