Liverpool defender Jeremie Frimpong has spoken about Florian Wirtz, who was transferred from Bayer together last summer. The Dutch footballer highly appreciated the German midfielder's game intelligence and importance to the team.
Idman.Biz reports with reference to The Telegraph that Frimpong said that it is a rare occurrence for two close friends to move to another club at the same time.
"I was very happy when I heard that Flo was coming to us. We know each other well, we know who wants the ball where. I understand very well where he will find space and when he needs help to score. I can say that without Flo, we would not have won the undefeated Bundesliga championship or the cup in Leverkusen last season," the defender emphasized.
The defender also spoke about Wirtz's different qualities:
"His ball handling is amazing. Yes, he doesn't have my speed, but he is faster than everyone thanks to his thinking. He plays with intelligence and has proven it at the highest level. At Bayer, when we needed a goal or needed to create something in attack, Wirtz was always where he needed to be. He is a football player who achieves what he wants."
It should be noted that both football players were transferred to Liverpool in the summer of 2025. The duo, who are currently performing successfully in the Merseyside team, are considered one of the mainstays of the team in the Premier League.
