Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has commented on the rivalry between Manchester United and Manchester City in recent years.
Idman.Biz reports that the Daily Mail published the thoughts of 47-year-old Carragher.
"Manchester City will never be bigger than Manchester United. Likewise, a Liverpool-Manchester City match can never be more popular than a Liverpool-Manchester United duel. It's just not possible and will never happen. Historically, Liverpool and Manchester United are the two biggest teams in this country. I don't think that will ever change," said Jamie Carragher.
The former Liverpool player added that this hegemony creates difficulties for teams that strengthen later.
"They (Manchester City) can win more titles and cups, and even if they continue to win and Manchester United remains out of the spotlight, it is difficult to imagine any club in this country surpassing Liverpool or Manchester United in terms of size and status," said Jamie Carragher.
