Idman.Biz reports that one of the most successful figures in Azerbaijani football, a specialist who has achieved many firsts as a coach, is turning 54 years old.
Gurban Osman oglu Gurbanov was born on April 13, 1972, in the village of Ashaghi Tala, Zagatala region.
Gurbanov, who started his professional career in his native Zagatala's "Dashgin" team, later played for "Alazani" (Georgia), "Turan" (Tovuz), "Kur-Nur" (Mingachevir), "Neftchi", "Dinamo" (Stavropol, Russia), "Baltika" (Russia), "Fakel" (Russia), "Volga-Gazprom" (Russia) and "Inter" clubs.
Gurban Gurbanov, who wore the uniform of the Azerbaijani national team in 1992–2005, scored 14 goals in 68 matches.
He was appointed the head coach of "Qarabag" in 2008, replacing Turkish specialist Rasim Kara.
On April 13, 2022, he was awarded the "Shohrat" Order by the order of President Ilham Aliyev for his services in the development of Azerbaijani football.
Gurban Gurbanov is married and has 3 children.
