Italy national team sets anti-record.
According to "Report", citing foreign media, the four-time (1934, 1938, 1982, 2006) world champion has failed to qualify for 3 consecutive World Cups for the first time.
This happened in the decisive play-off match against Bosnia and Herzegovina yesterday.
Since the main and extra time of the match ended with a score of 1:1, a penalty shootout was needed to determine the winner. The Bosnia and Herzegovina national team, playing more accurately here (4:1), made a sensation and eliminated the Italian team, coached by Gennaro Gattuso, from the tournament.
It should be noted that the Italian national team last became world champion in 2006. However, they failed to perform successfully in the qualifying rounds of the last 3 World Cups and remained outside the final stage.
