The Italian national team, failing to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, has identified potential candidates to replace head coach Gennaro Gattuso.
According to Lent.az, citing "La Gazzetta dello Sport", the Italian Football Federation is considering bringing in a foreign specialist, particularly Josep Guardiola, to lead the national team.
It is believed that the 55-year-old head coach of "Manchester City", whose current contract runs until the summer of 2027, may leave the team at the end of this season.
Potential candidates also include the former head coach of the national team, Roberto Mancini, who led the Italian national team to victory at the 2020 European Championship and currently manages "Al-Sadd" in Qatar, and the return of Antonio Conte, the current head coach of "Napoli", is also being considered.
It should be recalled that the Italian national team lost to Bosnia and Herzegovina in a penalty shootout (1:1, 1:4 penalties) in the final play-off stage of the 2026 World Cup and failed to qualify for the World Cup for the third time in a row.
