"Neftchi" is my home club, I have been the captain of this team for many years. I would like my dear team to be at the top of the standings." Iskandar Javadov, president of the Regional Football Federations Public Union, said in an interview with Sport24.az.
The veteran football player shared his thoughts on the current situation of "Neftchi":
"Neftchi's ambition is also good for the development of the country's football. The country's oldest club should not be among the middle peasants, it should compete in European Cups every year. I would like this team to be a rival to "Qarabag" in the fight for the championship. An interesting derby awaits us in the next round. "Neftchi", which has made a good impression in the last rounds, will face "Qarabag". Gurban Gurbanov's team has been dominating Azerbaijani football for many years, becoming the champion. I would like "Neftchi" to be a rival to Aghdam in the fight for "gold". In the current season, the team is not performing badly under the leadership of Samir Abasov, but it needs to "increase" a little more. Today, there are quality football players in the squad with whom it is possible to play for the championship. "Neftchi's" ambition will also benefit "Qarabag". In the context of competition, any team tries to move forward and develop a little more. For many years, "Neftchi" has been the "locomotive" of the country's football. This good tradition needs to be revived."
