According to Lent.az, citing foreign media, Jose Mourinho, who previously stated his desire to coach the Portuguese national team, may realize this wish after the World Cup this summer. It is reported that the Portuguese Football Federation considers Mourinho a serious candidate for the coaching position.

The contract of the head coach of the Portuguese national team, Roberto Martinez, expires on July 31, 2026. It is noted in the information that after the World Cup, when Martinez's contract expires, the federation plans to make an official offer to Jose Mourinho.

Jose Mourinho, who started the season at Fenerbahce, became the head coach of Benfica after parting ways with the Istanbul club. The 63-year-old coach has signed a contract with the Portuguese team until the end of the season. It was reported that there is also an option to extend Mourinho's contract with Benfica.

On the other hand, it is alleged that Benfica is also preparing for the possibility of Mourinho managing the team. According to reports, the Portuguese team has added Ruben Amorim, who recently left Manchester United, to the list of potential candidates for the head coach position in case Mourinho leaves.
