The Iranian national team may withdraw from the World Cup, which will be held this summer in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Sport24.az reports that the President of the Iranian Football Federation, Mehdi Taj, stated this in an interview with "Marca":
"After today's events and the US attacks, the likelihood of going to the World Cup is low. However, the decision on this matter should be made by the heads of sports organizations."
It should be noted that the Iranian national team is in Group D at WC-2026 with Belgium, Egypt and New Zealand and must play all their matches in the USA.
