In the Russian Cup match between "Rostov" and "Pari NN", referee Vera Opeykinа sent off midfielder Mohammad Mohebi for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Lent.az reports, citing local media, that in the 85th minute of the match, the Iranian footballer received a second yellow card for touching the female referee and was forced to leave the field.
"Rostov" was already playing with a man down after Aleksandr Tarasov was sent off in the 73rd minute. As a result, the Nizhny Novgorod club won 1-0 thanks to a goal by Juan Boselli.
36-year-old Opeykinа is one of the few FIFA female referees who officiate matches between men. In 2023, she became the first woman to referee a Russian Cup match.
