"Inter Miami" has announced that the East Stand at the team's new stadium will be named after forward Lionel Messi.
İdman.Biz reports that this will be the first time in world football that an active player will play in a stadium with a stand named after him. The opening of Inter Miami's new arena is scheduled for April 4.
Messi has been playing for "Inter Miami" since 2023. His contract with the club runs until 2028. Under his leadership, "Inter Miami" has won its first four titles: the MLS Cup last season, the regular season in 2024, the MLS Eastern Conference in 2025, and the League Cup in 2023.
This season, he has appeared in six games in all competitions and scored five goals.
